  • Vicky Pollard would not be a fan of this. Vicky Pollard would be a fan of drwho, well, after 1980, but especially after 2005.

  • The introduction of my favourite Dr.Who assistant,Leela.

  • thumbs up if you think they should have kept leela's eyes blue for the whole time she was on the show. Brown contacts clash with her brown ensamble.

  • @MetalheadJay78 Agreed; I do like Moffats direction with the series but Hinchcliffe and Holmes are still my personal favourite team! Moffat is better than RTD too. But yeah Hinchliffe years are best!

  • @MetalheadJay78 It was definitely the hey day of the show... and the reason anyone today knows about it. Pop culture references are always to Tom Baker (Simpsons, Family Guy). Chris Carter, creator of X-Files, tells of how he struggled with the suits who wanted Mulder and Scully to be romantic. Generic, sure as hell sells to the lcd, surely what RTD or Joss Whedon et al. would do, but Chris knew better. One producer even said to lose Gillian Anderson b/c she didn't have a bikini body. Lame!

  • @ion010101 Philip Hinchcliffe was the producer who wanted "Who" to move away from being a kids show. He wanted it to be appreciated by intelligent college kids and adults so thus he moved it in a darker, gothic, horror direction. In his era, you can see a heavy influence from "Hammer" films. Also the scripts are more complex, intelligent and cynical for good reason. Having a nonconformist bohemian eccentric(Tom Baker) as the Doctor helped as well. Might be why many love this era so much.

  • @CYBERDOODY I find that most diehard fans of the series who are familiar with both eras(classic and modern) thoroughly dislike the modern series for many obvious reasons. Tom Baker IS the Doctor and THIS is "Doctor Who". The absolute peak and everything that was/is good about the show. We wouldn't even be talking about "Who" today if it wasn't for the utter genius of Tom Baker, Philip Hinchcliffe, and Robert Holmes. These are the men who revolutionized the show and made it popular Worldwide!

  • @ion010101 I have that to look forward then

  • @CYBERDOODY I can dig it. When I was a kid, I didn't notice these things so much. When you're a kid, you don't know what it means when a producer who "likes hawaiian shirts" puts your favorite tv character into a big fabulous burgundy costume that looks like your grans sunday church clothes. As you get older, you become more aware and more discerning.

  • @ion010101 So you don't like modern Doctor Who then I take it. Well even though I never saw the Classic Series originally (I`ve got several DVDs though) I prefer old Who to the New. I still like todays though
