  • I wish I was there back in the days of the original raves, sigh, I missed so much! :D

I love Luna C's tunes... breaky and slamming as you like, with some prime samples thrown in for good measure! Smile Fuk Up, what a remix! Met him at an oldskool night last year... very safe guy and his mixing was on top form!

    Nice one Mr. Howell!

  • That "documentary" info was GREAT

Young dj's like me must know this stuff!!!

  • I don't know much about rave and what I know about luna-c comes from his supersets, but I can listen to them for days on end and never get tired of them. Woot for Luna-c.

  • scooter has been going since 1994

  • That piano progression tune is unreal, the piano at the start is amazing wish i could play like that, i gotta learn :)

  • You should not regret Smart E's. It had its place in hardcore history. Good work.:)

  • Smart Es damaged the hardcore scene - I should know, I was one of the 3 that made it. But to group all hardcore in with that track is to miss the point. As artists, none of us knew the track would get so huge, and we had no control over it anyway. Prodigy started as hardcore, but grew out of it, which is fair enough. All things change. :o) Luna-C

  • Lawl you act like Scooter is hardcore still, They haven't been for 10 years. And you really think Darwin, Orbit 1, Reese, Kurt etc. all put out bad tracks?

  • setamonkey; they are talking about oldskool hardcore; old prodigy is a decent example of oldskool hardcore (but there is better ^_~)

i don't know year markers, but once the oldskool sound started dabbling in adding 4 beat kick drums with the breaks, experimenting in the banging piano lines, and then the pitched up vocals; early hhc started developing. another side shifted more towards keeping it dark, hard, stabby, and raw as shite, and thus early jungle started developing.

  • how is prodigy even remotly hardcore their closer to d&b or grime in my epinion with the exeption of outerspace wich has elements of hardcore. just take voodoo people totaly d&b. i count prodigy as the godfaters of d&b. although i supose you could class them as the darkest, grimiest form of hardcore

  • Makes me smile when youngsters say......sesame e street and trip to trumpton....proper old rave. Commercial piss takes that no serious raver back in the day would listen or dance to. Jungle killed it for me.....puff out your chest and show some attitude muzik. Oldskool was about come as you are, unite, smile and be happy and dance your tits off.....express yourself in dance and forget the Thatcher nightmare that we had to live thru at the time.
