Something like that would come from a Hyundai or Kia, not a Nissan.

I had a similar sound in my 95 Maxima and I had to replace the Spindle due to cheap bearing's being the wrong size and wearing the spindle down.
Got a spindle at a junk yard for $50 and it works and sounds great, but I did pay the $60 for a National bearing this time.

I had that whining noise... The original owner put a whistler in the intake to detect how much airflow was actually going to the motor. Sounded horrible at WOT

damn, you got lucky with that dealership. Especially for a car that was 10 years old at the time. Speaking of which, I had to replace the alternator in my '97 SE as well.. but it definitely did NOT make a whining noise.

could be, especially if it's still the original. could also be a wheel bearing... or maybe just your breaks haha

it was the alternator... i eventually found out it had been recalled for this year maxima... took it into the stealership and they replaced it no questions asked..
