I remember when overweight fines ran a penny a pound up to 5,000lbs then it went to a nickle a pound.
As far as overweight "illegal" loads go now, they're limited by the amount the loaders can take off the trucks. Our 988B's would take off 60,000lbs without healing the load back too much. They have a smaller LeTourneau out there now just for off-loading and I don't know what it will lift.
There's nothing like the feeling when the back tires come off the ground and you haven't cleared the truck!

@skadill You have to get a HDX size load on a highway truck to make any money nowwadays. Logging trucks here are always heavy who hauls legal loads ? Nobody lol.

i remember in nz when they used to cut down trees with 3 or 4 meter girths.
We load our cedar that high, but that's cedar. So no wrappers or are they getting a few more sticks from another pile?

@Horsefaller They were getting one size of hemlock only there,a few pieces from each deck every couple hundred feet.Cedar loads here are usually only limited by the height of telephone lines crossing the roads.B.C. here hauls good sized log loads
