On 3rd October 2010, 9 year old Spencer held his first Solo Benefit Recital at Tom Lee Hall in Vancouver, with all proceeds donated to Alexa Middelaer Memorial Fund (Alexa's Bus).
The Recital consisted of 8 pieces by J. S. Bach, L. van Beethoven, F. Chopin, S Prokofiev and S. Rachmaninoff. The piano provided is the beautiful half-million Steinway "KUNIISII" -- built prior to Olympics in Vancouver and beautifully decorated by Canadian artist of native Haida origin, Jay Simeon.
Unfortunately due to a broken external microphone cable I had to use a camera mounted mike, which from the location behind the piano does not do justice to this wonderful piano -- my apologies!
Our thanks go to Tom Lee Music, to Steinway & Sons, to Mr. Simeon, and to all the 120 wonderful people in the audience who all contributed to this very worthwhile cause.
Our hearts go to the wonderful and kind members of the Middelaer Family and to all families who lost the loved ones to drunk drivers.
