The motor on that thing is noisy. I've got a power liftgate on my Caravan ( because I'm lazy ) and it's much quieter. Nice try Volvo.

It doesn't beep or anything, which I thought was weird for a company supposedly obsessed with safety.

It doesn't look like a very safe lift gate to me....considering it slams shut and has no warning signal at all...I have a caravan and before it even starts to go down or up it beeps 4 long times to make sure no one is in the way, then it starts operation. It also closes and opens very slowly so it won't hurt if it hits you during a cycle. It looks to me that I'd you we're in the trunk when it was closing and it slammed shut on you, even with a pinch sensor it would hurt pretty bad...

@ESP4382 I have an XC60, and our power tail-gate is much quieter. It was probably because it was echoing in the garage, that made it noisy.

You think it would say; "Caution, Liftgate Opening or flash the hazard turn signals or something. I'm actually test driving the XC60 later today. I wanna see just how good that emergency brake assist really is. And I want something a little more smaller and faster than my Caravan. I love my van but it's time for something a bit more my style.
