  • great record and good documentary but find the eddie merckx record for real inspiration!. He competes on what looks like a courier bike today, with only toe clips, outside, on rough concrete (not wood like boardman) he managed 49.43, oh and he had been racing professionally all year not preparing just for the race. He is still the real champ, no one else has come close on a traditional style bike.

  • "no one else has come close on a traditional style bike"

    Err... other than Boardman himself.

But yes an awesome athlete (best allround cyclist ever by a mile)

  • @wellytopjohnny In order to take advantage of the advantages the altitude of Mexico, it is necessary to remain 20 days like minimum, says the Dr Conconi. It did it thus to Moser, but Merckx only 3 days in Mexico and 9 days in Belgium. The Dr Ferrari said that Moser was drugged during the test. He tried it to Indurain in Colombia in altitude and he failed

Indurain lo intentó en Colombia en altitud y fracasó.

  • Merckx

  • @wellytopjohnny true but indoor versus outdoor

  • Boardman helped kickstart the current success of Brit cycling.. a cool dude.

  • @simonh102 , well said. i too thought that Merckx is truly the real deal.

  • Still involved in cycling but sold merckx bikes when his son(s) did not want to take it over. Race Director at the Qatar Tour, although that is a largely ceremonial role. Scary good

  • Totally right. What is he doing now by the way ? He is one of my childhood heroes.
