@Hammersley1967 Help others with no expectation of reward. That is the Mindset. It is called Altruism. Very few who attend AA have this mindset. Most people bring their craziness to AA meetings.? You were indoctrinated BEFORE you ever set foot in the door. Problem is that you get 20 half baked crazies in a room, who is going to teach them different?. I learned tolerance, acceptance, and most of all , I learned when to leave a situation
AA is just a beginning not an end

"AA is not an institution . It is a mind set. It is an attitude."
But you might be right about one thing...
Thought-stopping cliches, dogma, and propaganda ARE inseparable from AA doctrine...
These lead to a non-creative, noncritical, unquestioning frame of mind (indoctrination)...
So, I guess in that sense, AA is a "mindset"...
-
"Indoctrination? What a word. But many still have these limited words in their brains"
Don't like the word "indoctrinated" do you?
You know, listening to the same bullshit over and over and over until you believe it?
Conditioned? Programmed? Brain washed?
Do you like any of them?
It's a concept akin to reciting the Pledge of Allegiance again and again and again until you ACTUALLY believe the lie that America is concerned with "Liberty and Justice for All"...
Just like that...

"AA is not an institution. It is a mind set. It is an attitude. It is a spirit of Altruism."
Oh! What a beautiful, flowery, poetic avowal!
Sounds remarkably like all the other rehearsed bullshit that steppers love to regurgitate in meetings.
Problem is, it's contra to AA's OWN definition of itself.
"AA is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. "

@Hammersley1967 AA is not an institution . It is a mind set. It is an attitude. It is a spirit of Altruism. I cant tell you what to do. But it seems that you are still living the life of Slave and Master. You go ahead and become the Poster boy. Then the next generation of idiots can slam you to the ground and take control

Awesome..I'm so glad that you made the changes needed to stop drinking with out AA ! I also have done the same with out the "wonderful program"
-
Well Hammer point me to a meeting for natural remission people and I will be the there! Wouldnt mind being a squad leader either!
SOBER Son Of a Bitch Everything is Real !
"Sober 17 years with out AA !"
There are SO many individuals like you "out there"...
The problem is that you don't band together and form an international support group network that has a public profile.
Thus you are invisible to the public at large.
Meanwhile AA parades about spouting it's "wonderful program" that has a success rate no higher than the rate of natural remission.
It's a problem...

Finally the non AA people can voice their opinion and be heard without disdain of a bunch of old timers sittin around a table telling you "your best thinking got you you here, shut up and listen" !!!
Sober 17 years with out AA !
