Reflections on Spirit's Journey

  • I wonder if some day Earth will be like Mars is today and a little rover will be running around looking for traces of past life.

  • @Ryuuken24 You're interpreting this the wrong way. Spirit did what it was supposed to do, succeeding in its original mission after 90 days. Then it went on to surpass all expectations for another five years, exploring the surface of a planet that is not very forgiving in its environment. As technology advanced here on Earth, Spirit continued along as engineers here pushed the limits of what it was intended to do, and in the process learned how to get the most from it. Or her, if you will. ;)

  • @SpazzyMcGee1337 That Xkcd strip almost made me cry

  • @Bluenoser613 if earth gets hit by another planet size meteor, it will shave the earth surface exposing the beneath core. Traces of past life will be wiped off..

  • I did a presentation about this robot ! He was fantastic ! It was very interesting to study it.

    Good video ;-)

  • @mumin728 red filters yes. for some odd reason they do this. what are they hiding?

  • @Bacterio2000 even better, why not the glass-like structure what kind of looks like a worm or tunnel?

  • Hey there is something that I don't understand at all... Mars South Pole is covered with ice, why don't we send probes there? Even if it will be more difficult for the solar panels to get sun light there, just a little glance to that ice outside Earth would be worth a short mission... In addition, any remaining lifeformsfrom Mars could be there.

  • mars is not red im telling u

  • Let little rover that could.

    Spirit: "Can I come home now guys? Did I study enough rocks yet? I tried my best. Guys?"

    ;_;

  • @abadubie So we can drop bombs from space! >:D

  • Humans 20,000 BCE: "Let's shelter ourselves from the rain using these rocks and sand."

    Humans 2000 CE: "Let's assemble these rocks (metal) and sand (silicon) into a tool (rover) and use this water (rocket fuel) and more rocks (metal rocket chassis) to send the tool to that red dot in the sky. The rock and sand tool will move by the power of light and we will remotely control the tool from this very spot by making our own invisible light (x-band radiowaves)."

    Imagine the year 24,000 BCE.

    H,FY!
