North Melbourne highlighs round 1 2008

North Melbourne took on Essendon round 1 of the 2008 premiership season at the Telstra Dome. In front of a packed house, the Roos started brightly before falling horribly off the pace.

Look up any clubs senior list and compare it to North's, you'll find that in the second half of the season West Coast were fielding younger sides when guys like Ziebell and Tarrant got injured for North. Also Richmond had some very young sides when Cousins and Deledio weren't playing. What's worth noting though is that North finished 9th, West Coast and Richmond were 15th and 16th.

@Aliquote I pulled nothing out of my ass. The ladder predictions, were my opinion, but the Windy Hill $20 Million government development was not. However, now that Essendon are moving away from Windy Hill, they are due to start it somewhere else, with more ground. The whole reason EFC are moving is because the local Bowls Club would not leave to create this extra space for the ground.

As for Norf, you guys are going no where. Your breif 9th finish will historically come to a shitty close.

Haha owned. Essendon right back in the bottom four, shit list, no coach. North Melbourne had the youngest team in the competition and finished up with more wins than Essendon did last year when they made the finals.

Essendon finished 8th with 10 wins, there is nothing wrong with being competitive and making the eight, but you guys need to pipe down, it's not that impressive. Essendon needed a finals berth because they hadn't played finals in years. Other teams didn't have such pressures so they began preparation for 2010 early, by playing rookies, getting players into surgery early etc.

On a side note North look to be ahead of Essendon again in 2010.
