During Paul Gilbert's set at the Ibanez event at NAMM 2009, he asked up Andy Timmons to play Statesborough Blues (Pat Travers and others).

Paul mentioned that they had played it once before together a few years ago.

  • I just think Paul looks so ridiculous with those head phones on. Looks like right after the gig (or during!) he's going to land some airliners at the local airport to earn flight rights back home! His singing is much better then I expected though.

  • @yjmsrv

Sadly...Paul has to wear them due to hearing issues.

  • Thanks. I'm aware of that as the Racer X webmaster. I was generally responding to his comment that he didn't know Paul sang.

  • The only ass that got kicked here, is ours.

  • I'm a fan of both, been listening to Paul more recently. but I got to say that they both can play each other's stuff if they want to...

Andy's licks tho, imo are more difficult than Paul's. Tried both. Sure Paul's licks are faster at times and have more metal edge but his patterns are straight forward, andy's licks sounds melodic and probably seems easier, but when you try to figure out the notes he play while getting up to his speed, it's all over the place, Timmons licks fingerings are crazy.

  • they are both good debates are useless, paul i think is more near perfect with notes and andy is more bluesy and i've seen some sloppy but that makes good blues they both could probably play each others stuff.. just because paul plays fast stuff a lot doesn't mean he can't play blues in fact he plays a lot of soulful blues stuff... so whatever no one commenting is anywhere close to them i'm sure so shut up and enjoy the show

  • Both are great guitarists.. but andy is definitely the better singer : P

  • @ 4:58 moma had a baby @ 5:16 its head popped off!

  • @khower

He doesnt sing one Word on The CD s Get Out of My Yard and

    Silence After the Deafening Roar

  • did he really quote jimmy hendrix or did hendrix quote another older blues jam in red house? still got my guitar.. LOOK OUT NOW

  • @khower Yeah, I understand that and respect him for taking care of his hearing, but really, don't they make in ear ear plugs/monitors that he can use that are just as/more effective instead of jetway muffs? It's like watching princess leah with a beard!

  • @dmnxCGi Yes, Andy is great, but I'd like to see him do Paul's mad string skipping licks.

  • @khower damn i didnt know that. that sucks

  • Andy's tone is always so awesome

  • @khower so he gets the full mix in there then instead of just wearing ear plugs? Do those cans work better then some of those in-ear monitoring solutions then?
