Grassroots Campaigning for OBAMA in Ohio

Just a little something I put together while in Columbus Ohio.

I participated on the ground with the Obama campaign in Columbus, Ohio. I walked house to house in a 95% Republican community - Delaware City. We went to over 100 homes...really about 150...with the snow and ice on the ground and the cold wind blowing against our faces. We were able to confirm about 15 Obama supporters, 3 Hillary supporters, and a slew of undecideds of which we were able to speak to the voters to remind the vote and if they believe in the Obama message to cast a vote for Senator Obama. We saw two Hillary yard signs and we were able to place at least 4 additional yard signs in yards of Republicans that support the Senator. Two of those signs were across the street from the Hillary yard signs!

Yes...that's what I was thinking AFTER the fact. I was going to drive, but I didn't want to drive back. So I flew. And I rented a car and a hotel. My trip was about $600 (airfare $250, hotel $200, rental $100, food $50) And now I'm going up to PA, but I'm driving its not that far and this time I'm bringing my kids. It will be less money because it's a day trip. But it was worth the money because I had fun, I learned a lot, and I met some GREAT people!

Who pays for those journeys? because I would love to go, but the finances are the issue.

The experience is one that I wouldn't trade! It was great. I didn't do anything when Maryland was up and I felt guilty because I didn't canvas or participate...so I decided to go to Ohio and try to make a difference. So in a few weeks I'll be off to PA to help in that effort! You did a lot...you spoke out online...you took a licking, but guess what? You're still ticking! Obama '08!
