Part 3 of 3. This series of three videos shows how to install Ubuntu Linux Desktop in VMWare Fusion for the Mac. Fusion will allow you to run a full Linux desktop in a window on your desktop. Why do it? To experiment, to learn, and for instructional purposes. The video is divided into three sections due to length limitations; view all for the complete instructions.

  • will unity work?

  • Not really, it's primarily for windows apps. However I have heard that there is or may be some unity support for linux apps either in beta versions now or possibly in the future.

  • can you turn on visual efects in vm ware?

  • Unfortunately, no. It requires direct access to the video hardware.

  • Yes, it's leopard. I used snapzpro to do the screen cap at 1024x768, coverted it to an AVI in Bink, edited it in Camtasia on Windows and then output it back to a hinted quicktime at 640x480 resolution
