"Armor in the future must fly; just as all other means of war must fly. Possessing good cross-country mobility and gunned to destroy any earthbound vehicle, the tank
will play the decisive role in the coming battles of the airhead. "

--General James M. Gavin

MODELVISION demonstrates an important operational concept (OPCON) so we can have responsive, DIY Air-Mech-Strike without having to "mother may I?" a ride from aviator bureaucracies.

Another problem is "beggars can't be choosy" ie; if we depend on incompetent Aviator bureaucracies like the Army's rotorheads who absurdy fly in DARK GREEN helicopters during daylight sky-blue hours that might get us all killed and ruin the mission.

A recent DoD study concludes 76% of all U.S. helo shoot-downs took place during DAYLIGHT but the dumbasses persist in dark green helos!

QUOTE:

"In OEF/OIF, 76% of combat hostile action losses occurred during daylight hours"

"Study on Rotorcraft Survivability" Summary Briefing 19 October 2009 for Congress/DoD, by JAS, IDA

You can read the entire report below and notice the idiots don't even think of improving their camouflage!

WHAT GOOD CAMOUFLAGE LOOKS LIKE:

If Air-Mech Light Infantry flew themselves, we'd be able to insure to be painted in proper sky-gray camouflage and even have things like Yehudi lights employed etc.

Here's an U.S. Army Command & General Staff College School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) report by Infantry officer, Major William Sutey on the need for cross-country MOBILITY (XCM) from M113 Gavin light tracked tanks to improve LIGHT INFANTRY FORCE mobility, protection and firepower. READ IT.

  • Couldn't helicopters fulfill most of these roles?

  • To make a "Flying M113", you'd not only need wings, stabilizers, and propulsion, but also a nose section (the M113 isn't a very stream-lined vehicle) with a dedicated aircrew --- essentially a fixed-wing "Skycrane".

Otherwise, you'd have to steer it from the Driver's station, looking through a single vision block --- that would NOT be fun.

Problems with ego-driven infighting must be solved in other manners besides avoiding the issues where the ego gets in the way, at least that's the way I see it.

  • @Hairysteed Good question. Potentially a fixed-wing flying tank would fly much faster than a drag-heavy, conventional helo--at least 300 mph depending on streamlining and thrust.

  • @Hairysteed Sad but true. Light infantry narcissism permeates both the Air Assault and Airborne communities such that they refuse to use the light tanks they have--they'd rather roll on wheeled trucks and get blown up by ever increasing land mines than look like a "mech pussy" in tracks.

  • @52111centrumcz The CH-54 Skycrane can hoist tanks up tight against its skeletal fuselage--we propose it in our AMS book. It's a possibility but we would have to buy the helos and mother may I? the aviators to fly them. Ideally, we'd be best to fly ourselves for air-mech maneuver.

  • @Bloodraptorsharkska spelling would be a start...

  • @dynmicpara and how fast do you suppose a fixed-wing flying tank could fly?

  • @dynmicpara Army helos won't fly Army tanks? Don't you have some kind of CHAIN OF COMMAND in your army?! Don't they FOLLOW ORDERS?!

  • @dynmicpara

I'm thinking...if at the top of the M113 you'd have metal fasteners, could you run solid chains to the gear of the CH-47s, or any airframe hardpoints that would allow them to be hoisted externally?

  • i find this video hard to masterbate too..

  • fuck securing a LZ detach the apc from the sky and have it secure it's own LZ and make a nice sized crater too. maybe al qaeda'll just think they got bombed? then bam its a motha fuckin' apc BITCH! what the hell is 3:48 from?
