I lived the Detroit scene all my life, heard all the protest songs, loved most of them but this was the big dog! A fellow Dee-troit boy that took the Folk era protest movement into a rockin' Protest era! He was brilliant in lyrical statement, heady in musical sound and helped to solidify Detroit as Major contributor to the times! Take this and 2+2 and what more needed to be said? Then again sorta glad others spoke out...And it's1-2-3...ring a bell?
Rockin'! Seger's earliest work is just as mature as his latest, and is among the best of 6Os rock. I think this song dusts anything Hendrix, Joplin, and the Doors ever did. Soul, brains, energy and sound.... Seger's always had it all.
I saw Bob Seger and the Lost Heard perform this at the Painesville Armory, Ohio, probably in '67. He introduced it as "our next single." It knocked me out, just killed me. Never heard it again and have been looking for it ever since. I had begun to think they never released it. Thanks for posting.

I had this 45 in first grade. It was my sisters. I could have sworn the B side was Chain Smoking, but I can't find that anywhere.
