I've heard that the red portion of the process is optional. Is this true? In other words, if you don't have a red plug-in on your TV, will it still work?

Oh im wondering a big thing, i play on my computerscreen that have a hdmi that i play on but can i record a dazzle with a hdmi, i dont have a red white and yellow to link with but have a hdmi to link do can i use a hdmi instead of white yellow and red?
