Celtic v Hearts, 13th August 1988. The opening game of the 88/89 football season and Celtic raise the League Championship flag before the kick-off against Hearts. Celtic win the game 1-0 thanks to a goal from striker Frank McAvennie.

  • Little did we know then that it would be a long time before the league flag would be unfurled again. (right enough if we didn't pay HMRC who knows what'll have happened) but then again we have had the MON era, Larsson, Saville & all the other great times.

  • Henry dropped the ball in the cup semi final of April that year. This led Celtic from 0-1 down with 1 minute left to snatching an equaliser and then a winner in injury tme. Thats why they chant at old Henry!
