@TheAntiLeft lol no. the fighting between fascists, who were overtly and self-procraimedly right wing and between communists was because of a very different view of the world that was exactly at odds. fascism grew out of hatred of anti-war activists, gays, religious/ethnic minorities, liberal cosmopolitan decadence. they said this verbatim. its not like anarchists vs marxist vs social democrats in any sense. every fascist from napoleon to pinochet hated the leftwing and embraced the right.

History repeats itself. If you want to know what comes next in America. look what happened in my grandpa's day. WW3 is probably coming. We can change that outcome though if we wish. I hope we do because I think this time we are the bad guys, and I think the world will turn against us. We can choose a different outcome though. Guess what? The Tea Party and the republicans aren't the answer. Democrats aren't too much better. All funded by the same degenerate banksters and corporate fascists.

There's a speech in the film "Eve of St Mark" in which the leader exhorts the 'socialist' member of his platoon to fight for the USA and forget the way the veterans were betrayed during the Great Depression by the big businessmen who made a fortune out of WWI. He promises that things will be very different this time around, that they will live in a fairer, more just America with proper social welfare and that he can take his word on that and bank it. It's both highly amusing and sadly ironic.

I say Polk wins out. Can't give a single historical reason why, but he just seemed real lucky if nothing else.
