After the old Piano rolls faded ERROLL became the Light of this,Instrument /He almost toys w/ this playing. I, would have really liked to hear some recorded Jam sessions w/ some top players , and see just where we know He could take this Piano :THIS GUY HAD SO MANY BUILT IN TALENTS, HE WOULD HAVE EXCELLED At any Instrument ,by His SHEER STYLE .metronomic perfection and what a Drummer.ya
I saw this great musician 2 times in the late 50's and once in the early 60's. The first at the U of Mass - Amherst in the old gym, the "Cage", then at the Bushnell in Hartford, Conn. The last time in Phoenix, AZ. I have a great collection of his albums and single records. I drove my poor parents crazy playing them over and over!!! He will always be my idol. At Amherst, he entered the stage surrounded by the football team. It was hilarious.
at :35 bass and drums are both unsure what tune garner is going to lead in with... spot the hesitation...

I wonder if it goes natural with him or he is an unsurpassed showman doing it so naturally and joyfully?
