Someone asked about some Zakk Wylde settings, so I had a look. Im not very knowledgeable about Zakk Wylde/Ozzy, so I dont really know the style all that well. I just played Ozzy's "Desire" song to get a general feel for the sound.

I did have a Whitesnake tone setting for the BOSS ME50, but I tryed it recently and it sucked big time. So, this is about as good as you will get for a Whitesnake/Ozzy style tone IMHO. Remember, these ME units can only do so much.

Try these settings:

Tone Modify: Type=H-S
NS: Threshold=5
Reverb: About 7-8 (MOD Reverb)
OD/DS: Type=BD-2 Drive=10 Bottom=10 Tone=10 Level=4
Modulation: Type=ST CHORUS 2 Rate=0 Depth=10 Level=10
Delay: Type=Space Pan Time=5 Feedback=0 Level=5

Im using the expression pedal on wah mode, but thats pretty obvious.

To get these sounds though an amp, you either have to go though the effect return on your amp, and totally bypass the amps pre-amp. ie: If you have a Marshall, then you only use the amps power amp.

Or, if you dont have a fx loop, then you need to use the clean channel and adjust the eq. I find a lot of these tones dont work well though the pre-amp on a guitar amplifier, so you mush use the FX loop.

I also have a tone that I use, which sounds amazing on my legacy which im still working on. It is kinda pointless me releasing it, since it wouldn't be useful to most people.

Hope that helps.
Derek

  • Love this sound!

  • Damn, I have had my ME-50 for 2 years now and I am yet to use it.... please help me get this sound.

  • @Warcraft4You Details are in the details. Plug in a rock

  • Great tone... but for the settings, is it like a 0=min, 10=max., or is like a clock? thanks :)

  • @str1k3r21546 Yep, I use only 0=min, 10=max. I never use clock face numbers. I find its to confusing. eg 8 o,clock for min and 4 o,clock for max. Thats just weird.
