Everybody knows that our cities were built to be destroyed
You get annoyed, you buy a flat, you hide behind the mat
But I know she was born to do everything wrong whith all of that
Maria Bethânia, please send me a letter
I wish to know things are getting better
Better, better, Beta, Beta, Bethânia
Please send me a letter I wish to know things are getting better

She has given her soul to the devil but the devil gave his soul to God
Before the flood, after the blood, before you can see
She has given her soul to the devil and bought a flat by the sea
Maria Bethânia, please send me a letter
I wish to know things are getting better
Better, better, Beta, Beta, Bethânia
Please send me a letter I wish to know things are getting better

Everybody knows that its so hard to dig and get to the root
You eat the fruit, you go ahead, you wake up on your bed
But I love her face cause it has nothing to do with all I said

  • Ual, quando ele começa a cantar me arrepia!! Tem todo um contexto nessa canção, uma coisa que as novas gerações nunca entenderão...

  • maravilhoso!!!!!!!

  • @outronome Well, now that you mentioned it, it makes a lot of sense. I never thought about that before. I think I just messed the things up. You know, I compared Caetano with Sid Barrett because of all the psychedelic stuff that we can see in his early works... but now, forget it. Arnaldo Baptista sure is more likely to be compared with Sid Barrett, not only for his music/working style, but also for his problems with drugs and depression, and other kinda sad facts of his life. É foda, viu? rsrs

  • @pong224 I think you hit the nail on the head. Caetano, alongside Chico Buarque, is quite the brazilian Bob Dylan. So, I disagree with avantgars. João Gilberto is not the brazilian Bob Dylan. João Gilberto is perhaps the brazilian Frank Sinatra... although they have very different styles, they quite sum up the popular culture of their countries. Regarding Syd Barrett, his brazilian equivalent is Arnaldo Baptista, for sure.

  • @pong224 Well... I'd rather say that João Gilberto is the Brazilian Bob Dylan. I think Caetano is the Brazilian Sid Barrett.

  • is he kinda like Brazilian Bob Dylan?

  • Linda, uma das melhores de Caetano.
