I never did like this game much, I loaded it on my DS for nostalgic reasons though

@kojiki1976 Yes, the music is the best thing in this game. The game itself is sometimes too hard, Space Harrier is much more playable, but without music... a compromise?

I used to like this game & especially the music by Dave Rogers who also did the excellent theme for the Cybernoid II.

It looks like maybe you didn't get the best playability because you were firing too fast. It only lets you have one missile on screen, and when you fire again the old missile disappears. So unfortunately using autofire is like not firing at all! :(
