If you bought a domain name with a one company, let's say fasthosts.co.uk, but you bought your hosting with hostgator.com you will need to change the nameservers, so they point to your host company. This is simple all you need to do is:
1) Go to the site you bought your domain name from and log in.

2) Click on your domain name and then find a link called 'nameservers'. If you can't find it contact the company and ask for help.

3) Simply type in the nameservers you were given when you bought your hosting package. You will have been emailed this information. If you can't find this information contact your host provider. Your nameservers will look something like this:

ns1.livedns.com
ns2.livedns.com

All you need to do is copy and paste the nameservers supplied by your host into the box in your domain name account.
