2 - 'Alma redemptoris mater', Aires Fernandez(date unknown)

Pedro de Cristo is a Portuguese composer of the Renaissance. He is one of the most important Portuguese polyphonists of the XVIth and XVIIth centuries. 1571 — Santa Cruz monastery (Coimbra).

Among the other Portuguese composers whose works are preserved in the manuscripts from Santa Cruz, one of the finest is Airez Fernandez. Unfortunatly, nothing is yet know for his life. although it is likely that he worked in Coimbra, possibly at the cathedral and relatively few pieces asribed to him survive complete.
