Ooh wee! Low-down-and-funky Eddie Bo production on the Gold Cup label. There are 2 more releases by Explosions- "Garden Of Four Trees/Teach Me" and the super-duper-so-rare-we-didn't-even-know-it-existed "Jockey Ride Pt. 1/Pt. 2" which are both on Gold Cup. Lucky for us, "Hip Drop" is by far the easiest 45 to find (though it's pretty rare) and just so happens to be their funkiest.
A 'parts 1 and 2' edit of this recording by Rob Swift can be found on the Tuff City/Funky Delacacies release "Eddie Bo's Funky Funky New Orleans". Though the sound quality isn't all that, it's an interesting listen..
I tried the Hip Drop and I liked it! :-)
