Rare Audio LIVE recording from the 2002 Rainforest Benefit Concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City. The concert (2002 April 13), produced by Trudie Styler & Sting for their Rainforest Foundation, was a tribute to George Harrison who had died the previous November. Various artists sang George Harrison songs, as well as other sixties music. Included in the show were James Taylor, Sting, Lulu and Elton John, plus Jeff Beck, Smokey Robinson, Ravi Shankar, Nina Simone, Wynnona Judd, and Patti Labelle. This was the concert's opening number, the George Harrison 1973 song "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)".
They play the most interesting songs at these Rainforest Benefit concerts-- a lot of Beatles stuff. But I've never heard any soundboard quality recordings of any of them. Do you know why this is?

nice to know they sang it, but it\s not the best performance of this song. Still, they could record it one day.

Perhaps I am biased, but I think Elton's voice lends itself to the song more than the other two. Would have loved to hear George & Elton sing this together. Elton has a voice that really compliments other singers and he does a wonderful job of taking other writers songs and performing them as his own. Thanks for this post!

Sting and Taylor don't know the song. Actually I love the fact that they sang this masterpiece by George Harrison but this is the worst version Ive ever heard. Thanks for posting though.
