First time I heard this, I was in a club. I just heard Erykah's voice singing Shangalang-shang...and I said "Damn, this reminds me of the old deep south blues"...I didn't hear the lyrics. A few weeks later I found out it was called Southern Gul and I thought, mmm I was right! Check out Miles Davis' 'Jean Pierre' to hear that same connection.
