Kosen is an abbreviation of koko gakko semon gakko ... high school and technical colleges ... which allowed extended newaza in its tournaments.
There are newaza (ground) experts in Japan.
It is just not as accessible to foreigners .... and you cannot wear beach shorts and a rash guard and crank the tunes dude while you "roll". ...... LOL

not thrue friend, I´ve been training Kosen Judo with Sensei Hirata Kanae since 1980`s.

@Trixthor Thanks for the quick reply. That's good to know.

@moelicious416 india's contribution is overrated to me.. i haven't seen any indian martial arts that has submission moves. even their form of wrestling, though good, does not have the guard, or any submissions.
-
@moelicious416 ....... Catch wrestling was very well documented long before Karl Gotch. It was in Japan in the 50s, in Europe and US from before records were kept. India has had a huge influence on all forms of Asian and European grappling. However, this is not well documented in the past 50 years, so credit usually goes to European (british, german, russian) or to Japanese.

@6ookstazz if u really want to bring it back old skool, mma derived from egypt more so then greece or the romans.
-
@moelicious416 sadly jiu jitsu and judo are being marginalized by the american media
for example the ufc says mma came from the Greeks and Romans(to some degree yes, but not really) and jiu jitsu/judo will be fodder for that kind of mentality next
Anyone know if this is legal in a bjj competition?
