The Savannah cat is a relatively new breed of cat. They are known to make excellent companions. It shouldn't be a surprise, as Servals have been kept as companions to humans for centuries, possibly longer then Felis catus (the disputably "domestic" cat). Chompers is a high percentage f4 Savannah cat. His percentage of serval, makes him more like an F2 in genetics. This video was taken at the TICA "Paws and Smell the Roses," cat show in Portland, OR sept 2007. Chompers was bred by Arden Morley at Camelottaspots in Arizona. Arden not only breeds fine felines but runs a cat shelter. Arden has Siberian kittens available to good homes. She also has over 100 rescue cats of all shapes, sizes, ages and colors. Please consider rescue as well as a quality, purebred cat for your family.

  • I can't believe you guys can buy exotics like this. I personally think it's disturbing how you all claim you want such an animal, like they are all stacked on shelves ready for purchase. Whatever happened to just wanting a pet as a companion, as an animal to love and cherish until the end of its days? Now an animal has to be a particular breed, species, now it's exotics?! Insatiable human greed, that's what this is!

  • @Kittywhiskers1000 My dear Kittywiskers, purebreed cats and dogs have been around for hundreds of years. The breeding fancy is nothing new. Furthermore, owning exotic animals as pets is also nothing new, as this is exactly how our domestic breeds of animals have come about in the first place. I understand you are new to this information, so I will be patient. Knowledge is power though, and there is no sense in worrying yourself over things that do not warrant the concern.

  • Also, while the Savannah Cat is a fully domestic breed, the multitudes of exotic pet owners around the globe would certainly want me to set the record straight in assuring you that their pets are indeed, loved till the end of their days. There will always be a small number of irresponsible people in every group, regardless of the hobby or fancy, but they shall not reflect upon the group as a whole, if democracy is to persist.

  • Like every single charity they like to tote around 'facts' to promote their beliefs. I adore the ASPCA but sometimes they can be a little silly.

Exotics can have a place with humans BUT it must be with responsible and intelligent owners. In all honesty it's the morons who don't know what they're doing who make owning exotics dangerous. Same goes for parenting, teaching, etc.

  • @marler3 If you look down a couple of comments you'll that I've already answered such a question.

I don't agree with breeding new exotic breeds when we can't even take care of the ones we already have.

  • @Kittywhiskers1000 I don't understand... you're saying "whatever happened to wanting a pet as a companion" well, did you ever consider that a savannah cat may be a great companion for a lot of people? There will always be people who will get a "trendy" pet, and that's unfortunate, but you shouldn't assume that everyone who owns an exotic animal is greedy or ignorant, when the reality is the other way around.

  • @Jay16King Hahaha! Actually, while he wasnt super thrilled, he wasnt that bad either. I have seen some show cats just left in the cage after giving the Judge an ominous hiss or grumble... enough to say "You better leave me the HELL alone!"

  • @Fleefles (2/2) Perhaps I'm being a tad bit harsh. I'm not saying the owner that buys that breed wouldn't love that animal to no ends, but it still doesn't eradicate the truth. There are so many breeds in this world that suffer from major problems because humanity wants them to look in a particular way. You should watch the video I faved on my channel about Pedigrees, and you'll see why I'm so hyped up about this.

  • @Fleefles Nope. I've never personally been to an animal shelter. All the pets I have had thus far have been unwanted by particular people I know or have got in contact with. You can't sit there and say that choosing a particular breed isn't (even if it's only slight) related to fashion. I'm sorry, but it is. Everyone can deny it as much as they wish, but it doesn't change the fact that people wanting their animals to look a particular way encourages breeders to go to the extreme.

  • @Kittywhiskers1000

Oh, please. When you go to the shelter to get a pet do you just say, "Just give me whatever animal you want, I'm not even going to look." or do you LOOK at the different species, breeds and sizes of animals and pick which YOU like the best?

  • I want a savannah! i had heard of them before and there not exotic for any one asking! they are crossed with one !!!

  • @sandiegomermaid Yeah, no kidding. My domestic cat would poop in my dad's slippers if the closet was left open. I think he could tell my dad wasn't fond of felines.. LOL!

  • @suzannesmia My regular cat pees on things too so it's just not Savannahs that do it. I have two of them and they don't pee all over the place. My regular cat is driving me crazy because she is ruining my wood floors
