A 2000 lb vehicle uses more than 9/10ths of its fuel to move the car itself, vs. what is used to move the 200 lb driver. We have the lightweight alloys and carbon-fiber components to reduce the typical car to 1000 lbs. That would double the MPG and reduce our oil consumption by half! VOTE RICHARDSON!

How refreshing. Someone who's intelligent, informed, motivated, AND actually in a position to do something about this issue.

many very well written books are out there on this subject , and ANYONE who wants to be informed can read them ...
The trouble is when you are educated you realize all the ways of conservation have been stopped or taken away or had new laws made so we ca'nt have access .. all by the oil cabal..

so who are the politicians REALLY listening to

Plugins are the way forward.

But the best ones aren't merely Prius's with bigger batteries.

What we really need are fully electric cars, with the additional bare minimum components to attach a backup electric generator that runs off of liquid fuel.

This dratically cuts down on the weight/cost of the components, while maintaining full flexibility and range.
