http://www.ntv.co.ke The controversy ridden Eastern Africa Submarine Cables System (EASSY) is finally set to make its landfall in Mombasa in a years time.This is following the conclusion of plans to finance the laying of what will be East Africas third fibre optic cable connection with the rest of the world.The cable is now jointly owned by a grouping of 12 African telecommunication operators and funded by three international development finance institutions led by the World Bank.

CCK needs to regulate these cables or else the prices will remain the same. These guys have schemed in the name of "recuperating the costs of the cable" to not bring prices down immediately when they are getting it for 90% cheaper than from satellite. The companies Wananchi online, Safaricom, Telkom Kenya, Zain, Kenya Data Networks, Access Kenya all have some shares in all three cables SEACOM, TEAMS and EASSY....how will they compete? It will be a cartel like the oil companies.....
