Banyuwangi is the port to ferry over to Bali from Java. The ferries run constantly, 24-hours a day, for the 45-minute ride. Once off though, it takes forever to drive to Denpasar because of intense traffic on the road paralleling the sea.

There are consolations on the ride. Picturesque Balinese temples, vividly green fields, coconut palms, Frangipani and other flowering trees and black sand volcanic beaches.

  • @magna101 There weren't many on our particular ferry but they do run frequently. Also, many tourists are scared off by news from the previous terrorist attacks in Indonesia. We never felt threatened. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Best regards, Travels With Sheila
