Hexen is a medieval FPS released in 1995 by Raven Software, utilizing a more advanced version of the Doom engine. It is the sequel to Heretic, even though it takes place in a completely different world. In Kronos, the world of Hexen, Korax has invaded the world and brought it under his rule, giving unholy power to the leaders of the Legion, the Church, and the Arcanum, and causing chaos throughout the lands of Kronos. Three individuals, Baratus, Parias, and Daedolon vowed to stop the Serpent Rider, only to end up being separated, and they must travel the lands of Kronos in order to reach Korax's domain.

Hexen greatly improved on Doom's engine, adding stuff like swinging doors and scripted events, as well as the ability to select your character, each one with their own set of weapons and abilities and attributes. It also had an extra set of retail levels sold seperately called "Deathkings of the Dark Citadel". It also later spawned a sequel that used the Quake Engine: Hexen II.

This is the first part of the first hub, The Seven Portals.

  • Wowwy you're doing it pretty fast for someone doing it in titan difficulty :o

  • Seven Portals isn't a very long hub (even if the secret level is factored in as well), to be honest. The next few hubs take longer to complete.

However, Seven Portals is much harder for the Fighter because his only means of projectiles are the flechettes at this point, and there's a nasty type of enemy found only in this hub.

  • Korax's image: "Greetings mortal... Are you prepared to die?"

    You: *shakes head*

I liked how you decided to respond to the image of Korax. I predict you'll have only 5 parts in the seven portals at most without the secret stage, and I wish you the best of luck.

  • I saved after my first time at Guardian of Steel for a reason. The enemies I'm about to encounter will make me retry the segment over and over again.

  • Is it original Hexen?

  • download link?? :-)

  • the worst motherfuckers in Titan difficulty, well in this hub, the Wendigos. Their frost shards froze my soul!!!

  • Fighter is a very good class

But he lacks distant attacks, until later...

But he can LITERALLY pack a great punch against weaker enemies, as you can see, the ETTINS and CENTAURS are going down easy!

    Even in great numbers...

I found Fighter more interesting, as you are forced to use close range for a while!

  • i've always liked the fighter dude in this vid. man i missed this game.

  • 0:08 lol headshake :P

  • Hexen 64 was good too, but very dark in lighting terms

  • Yeah, actually I found the game for Doomsday engine, and now it works perfect, and love the new graphics.

    Thanks.

  • You're damn good you know? :x

  • Have you tried running it with ZDoom? That's how it works for me.
