My statement on immigration here in the Estados Unidos:
Ship the Statue of Liberty back to France:
Some people have lost their job because of outsourcing. OUTSOURCING is the real issue here along with screwed-up trade agreements (NAFTA for example under Clinton). I have heard many people say they have lost their job because it has been outsourced. Some of the people I'm speaking of were with their company for 20+ years. I have not heard one person say they have lost their job because an undocumented worker took their job here in the States. This immigration issue is a distraction issue. It is also an issue intended to be a wedge issue in order to divide people. And it's doing just that and unfortunately many so-called "Liberals" have fallen for it. To those who are anti-immigrant, please read the open policy inscription on the Statue of Liberty. It reads: "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me. I lift my lamp beside the golden door." If these words no longer apply to this nation then we should ship the thing back to France and tell them: No, we don't want it anymore. Here in the States, many people prefer to be racist particularly toward Latinos/Hispanics/Méxicans. Unless one is a native American we are all immigrants. Period. It's time to stop this superiority competition and hatred nonsense of always having to have an "enemy." When will this nation mature and move forward? With every passing day since 2000 we have been going backwards and anti-immigrant people are part of that. They seem to need somebody to hate and dump on and it's usually just people trying to survive and feed themselves and their families to whom they choose to spew their venom. Disgusting. No human being is "illegal" or an "alien" and such language is counter to inclusiveness.---Justin Sanner

  • Hello robinbl01, the indicated tempo in the score for this Ponce piece (A Pesar de Todo) is Moderato which means that the piece should be played in a moderate tempo or moderately.

  • hi Justin, i really like when some foreing person plays classic mexican music, because is simply beautiful and fully sentimental. And really you play greatly this song. I play it too, but i don´t have the sheet, is very sad because i would like diffuse this music, because many people doesn´t know it. So.... could you send me this sheet please?, is very important for me and i could send you more sheets of this kind of music, o.k?

Take care i and hope an answer.

Gracias

  • @dianalamaga Congratulations for your performing of this Ponce's dance. I would kindly ask you if there is any way I can have a copy of this piano score, it is an impressing melody and I would like to include it in my repertoire. Thanks in advance, and my congratulation again for playing such a beautifull Mexican music. Viva Mexico and Viva America.

  • My God this man is called ponce and he is great!!!

  • wow

    you are my hero!!!

  • Justin: Nice interpretation of Ponce's sophisticated romanticism in this piece. But just an explanation with all respect: we are Latin-Americans, because "Latinos" are us, and Spain, France, Italy, Portugal and Romania: countries with roman-latin cultural heritage. And countries like Mexico or Argentina are hispanic because our spanish (hispanic) heritage. But we, Latin-Americans, are different countries. It's better to say Ponce was a mexican composer than "latino". Thanks for your kindness.

  • Very good! I think your interpretation is wonderful. Congratulations!

  • In my humble opinion, The piece must reflect two things; the true friendship between Ponce and Jesús Contreras, and second the sorrow, Ponce wrote that especially for Contreras after he lost his hand, his instrument of work that allowed him to comunicate, make Art, something wich Ponce understood perfectly.

    Thumbs up!
