@FreedomLover1973 yep, they do. But i'd say go back 150 instead of 50. The democrats have brought us some good things, same as conservatives but both have bad apples. We were suckered in with a health care it's just another good idea perverted, causing problems for any future attempts to ensure life. I don't know if you would call them socialist as it. Dem and rep doesn't matter anymore because both are used to coral us into a stagnant middle devoid of idea and innovation.

Go back 50 years, before these socialists captured the heights of academia, and entertainment, and culture (not to mention Gvt.), and you'll see how prosperous this country was. But it isn't the private sector that is the problem. If it was a volunteer, then that person is in trouble. However I did learn in Econ, that there are some goods and services that the private sector may not be able to produce. This is a Conservative Econ teacher speaking to me and the rest of the class about this.

However my Econ/Civics teacher is a very Conservative, and a Pro-Newt man.

And he is an amazing teacher, and it is easy for me to relate to him.

@Mage13246 well yes the original idea is a good one but, like anything they have been perverted by people who want power and money...My idea of all forms of gov. local state and federal is that they should ensure food, water, health care and some form of shelter. All of those ensure life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. and no they are volunteer i think but either way they could save the house then sue ...Greed and the lust for money is killing this country, and it's foundation

Actually the private sector does more good than harm. It is because of the private sector that this country is able to survive economically. I do agree that the government should provide some of the services that we can not offer ourselves. But here's what I find conflicting in your comment:

Even if that was a private sector job, they should still save the house. Chances are that groupe of FFs will not be seeing another paycheck.
