Maria Meyer: ''Dans la fumée'' in Polish !

The old postcard from the early years of XX century shows the town Chorzów -- Upper Silesia, Poland. In the past, recollected by the archival picture, when the region was still under German administration and influence, it was called in the way we may see: Königshütte.
In this very house (which through the years was many times reconstructed...) there is situated nowadays the Teatr Rozrywki (Theatre of Entertainment), a very important body in the present cultural life of Upper Silesia.

Maria Meyer has been the leading lady of this theatre for more than a dozen years. In 2003, in Teatr Rozrywki there was organized a one-woman show of Maria Meyer devoted to the memory, legend and artistic output of the great Polish pre-war star, Hanka Ordonówna.
I was lucky and happy to find myself there, in the audience a few times -- each time being under great impression of Miss Meyer's interpretations.
They were also recorded by her soon, in the studio of Radio Katowice and published on the CD titled "Ordonka -- piosenki z repertuaru hrabiny Marii Tyszkiewiczowej śpiewa Maria Meyer". From this record the present recording has been taken by me for the video.

It is originally a French song ''Dans la fumée'' recorded by Lucienne Boyer in 1930, to which Hanka Ordonówna wrote her own, Polish lyrics and recorded for Polish Odeon a year later.

but it is a pity that I don't understand the Polish lyrics.

Wracałam kilka razy, by nasłuchać się tej niezwykle oryginalnej interpretacji. Lirycznej i dramatycznej zarazem, w której ból, żal, gniew i rezygnacja. I ten nastrój szczególny budowany przez fortepian i skrzypce - jako wprowadzenie, i jako finał.

Inna i daleka jest ta interpretacja od pierwowzorów: Boyer-Ordonka. Pogłębiona, poszerzona i ekstatyczna. Niemal przerysowana na styl wielkich heroin - świadomie.

Recital obejmował 22 piosenki - każda inna, każda w swój szczególny sposób podana, ze zmianami w strojach, rekwizytach.

Byłem 4 razy w przeciągu 2 lat. Potem już czaiłem się na płytę CD, która sprzedawana była tylko w radiu i w teatrze, w skromnym nakładzie.

Bo też i ten charakterystyczny głos Artystki tak służy temu dozowaniu i stopniowaniu dramaturgii tekstu muzycznego i samego tekstu. Sądzę, że właśnie odmienności interpretacji i aranżacji zawdzięczamy powstawanie nowych jakości, często zaskakujących, czasami burzących (nasze) dotychczasowe przyzwyczajenia Ale to jest przecież wspaniałe !

Musiały to być niezwykłe spektakle, a możliwości ich oglądania , leciutko..zazdroszczę :-)
