Sergio Amoni (born 1958) is one of the greatest karatekas of all times.
Born in Rome, Italy, in 1958 he began his martial arts studies in 1968 at almost 10 years old, practicing judo in a Roman gymnasium, under the guidance of the teacher Carboni from the Guardia di Finanza. After few years he moved into the gym that will give to him the right training and experience of his long and successful career, the JudoKwai Roma under the wise and careful guidance of the Master Pio Gaddi legend of judo, referee at international level and excellent Karate teacher. Here is formed and trained, in judo and karate, with people of high caliber such as Francesco Faraone world champion in the 70s and 80s , and with karate and judo champions coming from the most important military academies . Achieves the black belt in judo after 5 long hard years of training and actively participates as an assistant to his teacher in the preparation of new students.
But his true vocation and talent were being born and coming out; karate fascinated him ever more to the point that he decided to devote all his studies in martial arts on karate. Under the guidance of Master Pio Gaddi began Shotokan style achieving the blue belt but Sergio needed, for his skills, his total dedication to the sport and the grueling workouts, something more, more stimulus but especially a person more competent and competitive in karate, a new coach. his oldteacher was replaced by a young talent, a famous champion, that understood immediately his potentials and skills and he started to coach him, Claudio Culasso on Wadoryu style. Years of training , hard ones, also teaching , as assistant instructor for his coach, teaching karate to young students or future champions. Sergio Amoni then has the opportunity to train with the greatest champions in the world thanks to the teaching of the master Culasso involved with military and national teams and he was able to train also , world-class champions in Spain, Russia (Kiev Military Academy ), Mongolia, Malaysia, and Americas achieveing the VI dan in karae WadoRyu. Thanks to this huge international experience he developed and found a new way of fighting and training, that he calls "the Kombact", where the K stays for Karate, unspectacular but very effective in the movement execution and in the result, a hybrid, a mix of different forms of combat and ways to understand the concept of the fight itself as sports and pure defense, basing it on real situations and not just on the hypothetical ones, the reality and harshness of a physical confrontation and the highest level of physical and mental training. A mixture of strength, elegance, quick movements ,speed and maximum efficiency, combining techniques of Judo, Karate, KenJutsu and aikido also with the addition to his great interpretation and personal experience. A unique system, obviously not approved or listed by the major federations of martial arts, because unusual, uncomfortable and not "conformed", but certainly innovative and forward-looking. A training system that has trained, inspired and created a new generation of champions around the world in many different martial arts that it should be taken as an example of modern interpretation and changing of the way of fighting not standardized but adapted and personalized to each individual.
Sergio Amoni held stages and partecipated and won championships around the world and across all continents, Japan, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, USA, France, Russia, South America, New Zealand and Africa becoming an example of a new interpretation of martial arts but more than this a legend, certainly one of greatest karatekas of all times. He also held stages with Master Masafumi Shoimitsu as student or co-trainer and was a member of FIK,FIKDA, FIKTEDA,FITAK in Italy and USA KIA (All Styles Karate Instructor's Association) in USA and others worldwide.
