Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney announced by Level-5 and Capcom -- trailer, artwork and details
http://nintendo3dsblog.com/professor-layton-vs-ace-attorney-announced-by-leve...
Level-5 and Capcom have announced a crossover between Professor Layton and Ace Attorney, currently dubbed Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney. The game is set in Labyrinth City, a medieval location in a different world where the fates of the citizens are determined by a villain known as Story Teller who has the ability to literally write reality. Professor Hershel Layton and Phoenix Wright somehow find themselves caught in this world and through both puzzle and contradiction elements (mechanics taken from the respective series) you must assumably save the world from the bad guy and also prove that Phoenix Wright has not been using witch craft (which is something he is accused of).

While it's hard to beat the announcement of Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney in terms of Layton-related news, fans of the series will still be glad to know that Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle will have new puzzles available to download every day for a year after release. This is a boost from the weekly schedule of previous games. Also, the game is set across two timelines, leaving you to solve puzzles as both a younger and the present-day Professor Layton, which could allow for some interesting time-based mechanics.

Level-5 assures fans that Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney will be "the real thing"

Worried that Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney will feel unbalanced, as if one of the series dominates the experience? Well fear not! Akihiro Hino, Level-5′s CEO who spearheaded the project has confirmed that they're working closely with Ace Attorney series designer Shu Takumi and that "looking at it as an Ace Attorney game, it will look like the real thing. Looking at it as a Professor Layton game, it will look like the real thing. With this collaboration between two titles, we're aiming to make an even bigger title."

Hey guys, David here from nintendo 3ds blog dot com and we have a bunch of new game announcements from Level-5, the folks who make the Professor Layton series of games, so I'm going to split today's news into two videos just to make it easier to digest.

Anyways, speaking of Layton, the biggest announcement was for a crossover between a the Professor Layton and Ace Attorney series of games, currently dubbed Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney.

The game finds Layton and Phoenix Wright caught in medieval city in a different world and combines both "puzzle" and "contradiction" elements which are mechanics present in either game.

We haven't got a ton of details about the story, but the main villian is known as Story Teller, an old guy who has the ability to change the world, and therefore control the lives of citizens, by simply writing it down.

Somewhere amongst that Phoenix is accussed of witch craft and is put on trial while it's up to Layton to do his puzzle solving thing. Together, they need to stop the bad guy, save the world, and get back to their own world.

This is a collaboration between Level-5 and Capcom that seems to have both companies just as involved as each other, so I have a feeling it won't disappoint fans of either series.

In terms of Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle, the previously announced Layton-only game for the 3DS, it's been confirmed that for a full year after release there will be a new puzzle available for download every single day. This is bumped up from the weekly schedule of previous games.

Plus, in regards to the story itself, the game is set across two timelines that feature both a younger and present-day Professor Layton, which I imagine will allow for some interesting time-based mechanics.

Anyways, this video has been a bit of Layton-overload, but if you want more goodies check out the blog for screenshots, trailers, and a teaser website which should have more details in the next few days.

And that's it, so I will talk to you just a little bit later.
