my britax lock offs pop open a lot, I find in that case it is better to just lock the seat belt. Also She doesn't seem to get it all that tight? I find britax seats are so easy to get rock solid.

You actaully couldn't put a newborn in that seat. The harness doesn't go small enough.

Newer Britax convertibles have an energy management feature called rip-stitch tethers which means that the tether should not be pulled tight while rear-facing, like in the above video (the carseat used in the video had a date of manufacture of 08/02). The rip-stitch tether was introduced on the Marathon on 8/1/06, on the Boulevard on 9/11/06, on the Decathlon on 1/30/08, and on the Roundabout on 2/1/08. All other convertibles made since were introduced with the rip-stitch tether.

It's the Marathon, but the techniques apply to all Britax convertibles.
