I Wish I Were John Barry

I wrote this piece of music as a homage to John Barry, iconic composer, who grew up in the beautiful city of York, my home town. The piece was inspired by his film music such as the theme tune to Indecent Proposal. The photos include pictures of parts of York off the tourist trail, and places that would have been significant to John Barry in his early years.

31 1 11 I was saddened to hear this morning of John Barry's death. I'm particularly sorry that I never had a chance to meet someone who was a great inspiration to me and my own composition. His music will continue to inspire others for many years to come. Though nothing can match his own music, I dedicate this piece to his memory. (Apologies to anyone watching this video who thought they were listening to one of his tunes!)

This is one of the better Barry-tributes i've seen so far, and there;s been quite a lot of them. Good job, nice and calm, good selection of instruments. Especially like the saxophone...

@martinbond1993 Thanks for the comment. I'm pleased to see there are John Barry fans out there. However, I feel that in the city he grew up in, he is not as widely appreciated as he deserves. He is probably York's greatest musical son, but most young people in York have never heard of him. But he's inspired my writing, and I hope that comes through in this video.

This is very much like Barry's style. He is/was one of my all-time favorite film composers. Far better than Hans Zimmer whose style seems to rule today's large budget films. I hope you continue on with your own style. Thank you very much for the tribute.
