  • @CharmingChinchillas you're welcome. I handle and hold all three of my chinchillas..

Its a nice thing when you can do that.

I get 1000's and 1000's of letters about chinchillas that are not cuddly... these people end up sending chinchillas to home after home, and of course rescues. This Christmas season I am trying to discourage people from getting chinchillas and thinking they are a neat toy.

I am glad you are doing your homework and wish you and your chinchilla well.

  • @jglaser333 The chin that im getting likes to be held. She snuggles up to my neck. thx for the advice

  • @CharmingChinchillas talk to her, as ,much as you can, let her smell you, play soft music, you can try to hold her when you feel its right. I know the excitement of getting your first chinchilla...

I want to make sure you know and understand, they are cute, but do not like to be held, do not like to cuddle, ..I hope you dont get disappointed. To be a chinchilla guardian means you will have to learn a whole new set of skills... having an animal being your boss will be the 1st

  • Im getting a chin after christmas. Im going to be getting a starter cage for her and then save up for a chin mansion. Can i hold her for the first few days or do i have to let her stay in her cage and adjust? If i do, how many days?

  • @jglaser333 OK thanks!

  • @browneyednessagirl93 thank you..and congrats. I have a lot of tips of course but with so much mail here its impossible to really help everyone fully. Please join my free forum LUCKYS PLACE (luckysplace(dot)net) and you can meet hundreds of experienced and nice chinnie and other pet owners. Im there too. Thank you happy holidays Jamie
