This might be a silly comment, but the word Arcane means : To be secret. Why do human players always leave the arcane vault out in the open? It dies quickly. & It's going to be needed.

I think Sky has great placement protecting his shop and out of reach from both a ranged army/group and melee and in-range of every peasant so it can protect them against the wolves

I don't know what you mean by leaving it in the "open" but good placement of it would be to have it infront but still inside the base with a farm blocking it (vs orc or melee) so it can hit the enemy hero while he's running by it and also hit the wolves before they come too close to his base to kill off peasants. vs UD with fiends or night elf its a bit better to put it some steps behind the front so that the ranged units can't hit it, but still protect the base against flying or smaller units.
