  • The playing here is great. I not only love it on its own, but get subtle hints of Zappa (St Alfonzo) and the "anthemic" tradition. Love the Power. But let's get to the shrimp head space alien. Or the ginger root alien. I mean, that has to be as kookoo as anything. Yet good crooning. Invite Sigourney Weaver to view this.

  • Probably THE most underrated band in rock.

  • anyone who thinks Journey was better "pre- perry" needs to have their head checked

  • The Tubes never got respect as the serious, talented musicians they were. They played my high school in about 76' or 77'. Did Space Baby, and this one far more bizzare song in which a momma guitar gives birth to a baby guitar. Two other Bay Area bands of note also played my high school. Maybe you've heard of them. Journey when they were good (pre-Perry) and Earthquake (I still have a drumstick from that one). We had a TV, and a recording studio class. Our teacher (Chet Farrow) knew Bill Grahm.

  • Theie first album is still amazing! -- I listen to it quite frequently - saw them at The Roxy in Hollywood in the early 80's - we go to pick the songs they did that night --there were sheets on the tables with all their songs listed and we picked like 15 or so and they tallied them up and performed the most voted ones that night ... I remember WPOD wasn't listed - and the sheet said don't put that one down - because they would be doing that one without a doubt .... something like that....

  • @adriayn1 I could not agree more.

  • @treebeard22 I totally see it and was thinking exactly the same thing.

  • Wow....intro reminds me of Be Bop Deluxe. Another underrated prog band from the 70's.

  • ITS OFFICIAL... 'ALIEN' stole the idea for the look of their alien in the movie from the TUBES !

  • Absolutely brilliant :)

  • This is absolutely wacko - and totally wonderful
