Not Soupy Sales, not The Muppets, but the great original version of this Jerkish Turkish refrain "Pachalafaka," which first appeared in a satirical 1958 album from the brand new Warner Brothers label called "Terribly Sophisticated Songs: A Collection Of Unpopular Songs For Popular People."
Shortly before he moved over to RCA and skyrocketed to fame with his music score for the "Peter Gunn" television series, Henry Mancini conducted this compilation of tongue-in-cheek arrangements inspired by the sweet bands of the 1930s and 40s, with creative songwriter Irving Taylor providing all the lyrics. Earl Brown was one of several vocalists who were featured on the album's tracks.
45rpm: Warner Bros. 5012 - Pachalafaka (Irving Taylor) by Earl Brown, with orchestra conducted by Henry Mancini.
Sorry, dirt freak, but Soupy's remains the classic - just too funny.

Soupy's inferior version. Are you kidding me? Soupy's was a music video. It was a classic. The singing was better on the original recording but Soupy and Pooky were great.

This was SOO much fun. My sisters and I enjoyed this recording when we were kids, but we could never find it in recent years. We're thrilled to hear it again, finally! The record we had as kids had the song "In the Cafeteria With You" on the reverse side. If you have that, will you please post it? I can't tell you how much we would love to hear that too. Thanks for some terrific memories!

Yes! The original version Pookie the lion used to 'sing' before Soupy (RIP) came up with his own (far more inferior) version.
