This news open was part of the earliest and longest morning newscast airing, I believe, anywhere in the nation. KIRO TV aired First in the Morning News from 4:30 am until 7 am in 1990. This clip is from November 30 1990 with new anchors Essex Porter, and Chris Legeros, along with meteorologist Larry Rice

  • Morning news beginning at 4:30? How long did that last?

  • To long as far as I was concerned....:-)

I think it was a 4:30 am start until KIRO went "out of the box".

  • Its on @4:30 now

  • Both Essex & Chris are still at Kiro 7 today as reporters and Now Chris Legeros sometimes is a weekend anchor. And now Kiro-7 again starts at 4:30-7am and it continues until 9am on Comcast channel 207.

  • ...Chicago...Portland, OR...but not Seattle anymore...(?)

  • I did a post on radio-info mentioning the same thing about KIRO's newscast starting at 4:30 AM in the early 90's. Now probably each & every market has one right now, too.

  • WRAL in Raleigh also had the same voiceover & the same 24 hour news logo at that time, too.

  • Essex Porter & Chris Legeros are still at KIRO to this day.
