Is it my impression, or trainers in gyms don't really give much attention to calves exercises? I am a total beginner (and quite thin), and I asked the trainer about calves exercises, and he said "they are secondary". There are no calves exercises in my program. I don't know many things about working out, but this seems stupid to me. Shouldn't everyone be doing these from the beginning? I see people in the gym I go who have a developed upper body and ridiculously thin calves. Lame.

its because your consistently tensing your calves as you walk and use them on a daily basis. thats why you can train your calves more frequently and punish them

Shoot for 4 sets of 15 reps for each calve exercise.

Lee I have been doing your routine for a while now and although I have been getting more definition, I am not growing. Could it be that, I was not genetically blessed as you were?

The fact that you are seeing improvements in definition generally means you are also building muscle. Has your strength been going up with the calve workouts?
