Tony Wheeler, one of the founders of Lonely Planet, reminisces on Shiraz, an intellectual city of poetry and politics. Go to the Tombs of Hafez to witness the reverence for Iran's most popular poet and just outside the city are the spectacular ruins of Persepolis. Unfortunately, you just won't be able to enjoy a glass of Shiraz, in Shiraz?

  • Thank you for your presentation. Definetly my city is one of the best cities in Iran but this is not the only beautiful and historical city of our country. Please visit the Esfahan, Tabriz and Mashhad in your next trip. These cities are realy beautiful and have the friendly people. In fact all the Iranian (Persians, Turkish, Kurdish, Lors and ..) are realy friendly people. Long live iran and iranian.

  • @just0guessing 1)English is the second language in Iran, some people (Not many can speak it), but you can do what ever you want because people will help you as a tourist.

  • IRAN is very very beautiful and has very nice city such as shiraz, isfahan, tabriz, abadan, EVERY WHEREEEEE

  • hell vd u dannel. mean thoughts lilll thoughts. curse on u

  • iran is the friendliest nation in whole middle east, but after the islam regime things got fucked up, they cant even drink they're own Wine that they invented.

when islamic regime is gone in iran the pearl will shine

  • you can buy alcohol in iran on the black market

  • @anayebi1 My father is from Shiraz, and I was born in Athens! It's so good to hear someone else with a similar story! I have always dreamed of seeing Persepolis, but I'm hoping the current regime will go first.

  • I live in the U.S.A. specifically Atlanta, Georgia. I was born here and still do live here and I totally miss Iran and want to actually go back there. I just wish my family members could come here but can't because they need a visa or a invitation. It's a shame these people can't come to a free country where they can where anything they want and the politics is a little better. I miss Iran, especially Shiraz. Long live Iran and down with the communist Iran ( yes that means you Mr. Ahmadinejad).
