(Excerpted from a new half-hour film by Big Noise.)

Katrina was called the worst natural disaster in America in 100 years. . . but the hundreds who died here were not killed by the storm - they were left for days to drown as flood waters rose around them.

And today, the storm isn't what's keeping most of the city's former residents from returning home.

A richer, whiter New Orleans is being built in which the city's poor and black majority have no place.
While the city moves ahead with its plans to destroy public housing, scattered former residents fight a desperate battle for their right to return home.

The outcome will have far reaching consequences. New Orleans is the front line of a national struggle to save public housing and to end the privatization of government services. New Orleans is the model that, if successful, will be reproduced across the country.

  • I feel sorry for them but the dams need to be broke and new orleans flooded and never re built

  • @Laproductionsvideos absolutely, you do have the right. perhaps I was too hasty in the way I phrased my my comment. I didn't like what you said and I wished to express that to you, but it would seem I failed in saying what I wanted to in a way that cannot be misinterpreted. of course without question we would still be a British territory. its because people are willing to stand up and demand the truth that progress is made. without that there is no such thing as liberty

  • @blizzardballz "the freedom of expression is one of the fundamentals of our constitution and system of law. if these people wish to express the opinion, even to criticize, they are granted that right." Said by blizzardballz... Exactly that right allows me to call them "sick", after all it is like you said, a right we have, granted by the first amendment. Is it right for them to call our government sick because they disagree? And I never said they were sick, what they were doing was sick.

  • @Laproductionsvideos the freedom of expression is one of the fundamentals of our constitution and system of law. if these people wish to express the opinion, even to criticize, they are granted that right. you call them "sick", for what? because they disagree?

  • @mindrunfree Yes it was a man made hurricane, makes SO much sense. lol idiot.

  • @Largehippo Crime rates did in fact go up where the refugees went. There were a LOT of felons in that group of people. How many did you invite into your home?

  • Lol yeah it was a "man made" hurricane wasn't it? Stfu you ape stupid jackass.

  • @mindrunfree Nagin is responsible for the deaths, and the "refugees" were criminals.

  • Katrina is not even CLOSE to the worst natural disaster you uneducated morons. Galveston flood killed 8000 people

  • @mindrunfree Open your eyes, you're blaming the government which is just sick. While the U.S.A is spending resources to help bring Iraq to their feet this is happening. It is our fault, we are the ones who are responsible for the bums and people who starved is us. Iraqi's need aid more than us. Any American can leave and find a job. The Government gets criticism for something like this. It's sad.
