This project was part of a Penn class to create robotic and mechatronic elements for a theater production titled "The Robot Etudes" which appeared on May 15, 2010. The show was co-produced by Pig Iron Theater and loosely inspired by Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. The flower is remotely operated to rotate, open/close, and spring open. The back of each flower petal forms a 3-dimensional shape of a face. The flower also has a mode where it can rotate and track a person autonomously using a separate vision camera system.
