Free Skiing on GS skis (demos by coach Greg -www.youcanski.com)

Skiing off groomed trails or on loose snow often presents some challenges for junior racers. I attribute it mostly to poor technical skills on the groomers. In this video footage I attempt to show that GS skis (190cm) can be used almost in any conditions. There is not much to it, technique is almost the same, while balancing and range of motion are different. Skiing in conditions like these can really help the racers in developing skills needed for race carving. Racer should be able to exhibit good flow and balance in a wide range of conditions. Please, Question!! How do you do the little slide of the back of the ski before the turn? I'm trying to find this movement because it slows but keeps a good turn, which is exactly what I need. As you said, skiing with GS skis may not be simple here, but this movement helps!! From what I've noticed, you're pushing hard on your shoes to the front, which contributes to put the skis flat on the snow, and remove weight on the back. Then you push on your external leg to make the turn. Right? Thxs!
